Grateful Dogs Rescue (GDR) proudly stands as the oldest all-breed rescue group in San Francisco, carrying a noble mission since 1990 of saving local dogs at risk of euthanasia, primarily from San Francisco Animal Care and Control. Founded by the compassionate Michelle Parris, a former volunteer at SF Animal Care & Control, this volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) non-profit organization has been a haven for shelter dogs not made available for adoption. By fostering these furry friends until they find their loving forever homes, GDR has been battling euthanasia one dog at a time.
Over the years, Grateful Dogs Rescue has broadened its horizon to include other Bay Area shelters, becoming a significant entity in the San Francisco Bay area's rescue scene. Their adoption procedure is meticulously designed to ensure a harmonious match between the dog and the adopter, aiming for a joyous journey ahead in their “forever home.”
Running on the selfless dedication of 100% volunteer support, GDR ensures the majority of your generous donations channel directly towards rescuing shelter dogs. The dogs welcomed into their program often come with medical needs or require social adjustments before they can be adopted. Your donations are the lifeline supporting these critical interventions, general health checks, vaccinations, and necessary equipment. Grateful Dogs Rescue is committed to minimal operational costs, with less than 10% allocated annually towards necessities like website maintenance and adoption events, ensuring the highest possible impact of your contributions towards the well-being of the dogs.
Embark on a heartfelt journey with Grateful Dogs Rescue, where every dog gets a chance for a happier, safer life, and every donation significantly contributes to a cause that's all about love, care, and second chances.
